AAPL Newsletter Correction

January 3rd, 2012 by leslieirish No comments »

The AAPL Holiday Newsletter asked the following:
DID YOU KNOW ALSO…..
That you don’t need a physical to qualify for Life Insurance or Medical Insurance with GeoCare through AAPL?
Also, you qualify for coverage, even if you have a pre-existing condition. Where else can you find that?

Not that is not 100% correct – See clarification below:

AAPL’s GeoCare Benefits Comprehensive HealthCare and HSA Qualified Medical Plans are available to members who live in Michigan. You cannot be declined for coverage based on your health history if you are under age 65 and live in a state where the Plans are available. Coverage is underwritten for rate classification only.

For the three types of Term Life Plans, medical underwriting is required for coverage. This sometimes includes an exam by a paramed at a place convenient to you, either your home or place of work.

If this statement in the newsletter generates any questions and/or concerns, please contact Virginia Thaemert directly at GeoCare:

October 15th, 2011 by leslieirish No comments »

AAPL is bringing two NEW superior educational programs to Michigan and has always supported the Michigan Landmen 100%.

AAPL will be hosting two AAPL Events at the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City, Michigan on Thursday, October 27th and Friday, October 28th.  Mr. Jack C. Richards, CPL, the new President of AAPL will be our special guest.  Please join us for these events and in welcoming Mr. Richards to Michigan:

10-27-11:   AAPL Field Landman’s is sponsored by AAPL and is “FREE” to all AAPL Members and open to new members joining AAPL for half-off the AAPL Annual Membership fee.  Attendees will be welcomed for happy hour from five to six pm followed by dinner and two hours of education.  We are pleased to announce that the AAPL President, Mr. Jack C. Richards, CPL, will join us from Oklahoma City, OK to present AAPL Advantages:  Are you taking advantage of all that AAPL has to offer?  Learn what AAPL is all about and what it does for you.  Curtis D. Horne, CPL, will join us from Pearland, TX to present “Landmen, Ethics and the Unauthorized Practice of Law”:  There have been new developments on the Unauthorized Practice of Law – you won’t want to miss this!  Cody Lee, CPL, will join us from Albuquerque, NM to present The Shale Play Revolution:  A Landman’s Guide to Riding the Tumult, Beating the Competition and Winning More, Despite Limited Knowledge & Scarce Data.  This seminar is accredited by AAPL for one (1) RL/RPL/CPL continuing education credit and one (1) Ethics Credit.

10-28-11:  AAPL “Applied Land Practices”  This NEW seminar travels to Michigan by high demand from Michigan Landmen and will be taught by AAPL representative Curtis D. Horne (outstanding Instructor!)   The AAPL Applied Land Practices seminar is a one-day program designed to equip the beginning landman, land assistant, analyst, geologist, engineer, and those associated with any phase of landwork with knowledge about the application of the very fundamentals of our business. The course is NOT intended to qualify attendees to be a landman but will introduce them to the fundamental basic principles and practices of the profession.  This guide is intended to be a “work in progress” and is updated and modified as required and may not be in perfect form. It should serve as a basic primer for many of the facets of landwork.    This seminar is accredited by AAPL for seven (7) RL/RPL/CPL continuing education credits and one (1) Ethics Credit.  The advance registration fee is $225 for AAPL members and $350 for non-members.  Additional $50.00 after 10-20-11.  Registration & Continental Breakfast at 7:30am, Lunch Provided at Noon.  Should be over by 4:30 pm.   Registration will close on Thursday, October 20, 2011.
